Hy Donny!
ReplyDeleteThis is Meloidae, from genus Cissites (looks like Cissites maxillosa from Thailand)

Hi ,
ReplyDeleteThanks Denis, but this specimen not from Thailand, it came from my places, West Kalimantan, this is my first time catching this specimen.
Here's the email from my friend, describing about this specimen":> Hi Donny,
Delete> on your blog you show an unknown species (red colour, massive mandibles; you note "maybe carabidae?" march 2010). This post is not recent and I think you must have recieved answers, didn't you? - Anyway, note that this specimen belongs to the family of Meloidae, poorly known for several genera especially the one you are showing. The specimen shown on your photo is a member of genus Horia or more probably Synhoria. Both are present in parts of Asia but also Africa, mainly southern areas (I have in my collection specimen from Cameroon). I am quite sure that the beetle on your photos is not described, as most of these Meloids.
